In-Person Services

First NLR Is Open!

Under the guidelines of government officials, First NLR will have in-person services this weekend.  However, things will be different than usual.

While we cannot guarantee a germ-free environment, we are taking steps to help prevent transmission of Covid-19.  You can read more about those steps below.  If you are sick, have a fever, present any signs of cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, or if you have been in contact with anyone who has had COVID-19 in the past 14 days, please stay home.  We care about your health and safety.  If you are in a high-risk group, we encourage you to continue attending online at this time.

What About My Kids?

Kids Ministry for Birth through 5th Grade is open!  Find more info on our safety guidelines below!  If your child is with you in service and they become upset or disruptive, we just ask that you step out into the lobby for a few moments until they are calmed.  We’re excited to see you AND your kids in church!

Our Guidelines for Your Safety

Our sanctuary has been re-set to allow for social distancing.  We’ve measured and observed the federal standards – six feet between family units.   When you enter the Sanctuary, you will be directed to a seating area for your family.  We will seat people from the front of the room to the back of the room.

To help prevent the spread of infection, we ask everyone to wear a face mask any time you’re not at your seat in the Sanctuary.  If you forget, one will be provided for you.  Infants and toddlers will not be required to wear a mask.  If you have a health condition that makes it impossible for you to wear a mask, we understand.  When you are at your seat in the Sanctuary, you may take off your mask until it is time to leave.

Before every service, the sanctuary and all high-touch surfaces will be disinfected.  We will only allow people in the room after that procedure is complete.

We will not have shuttles or valet since social distancing and sanitization is impractical.

Hand sanitizing stations are set up throughout the building.  We encourage their frequent use.

If you need to sneeze or cough, please cover your mouth and nose or sneeze into your elbow.

Drinking fountains will not be available for use.

We will not distribute any bulletins.  Offering envelopes will be placed on the chairs.  Extras will be removed and destroyed between services.

Greeters will be wearing masks and gloves.  We will not shake hands, hug, or high five.  Instead, we will air hug, wave, and smile.

We encourage you to continue giving online.  During services, we will take an offering.  Ushers will wear masks and gloves.  They will walk to your family and allow you to drop your offering into a bucket, touch-free.

Please continue to register your attendance on the app.

Guidelines During COVID-19:

All Early Childhood workers will be screened and have their temperature checked every time they serve.  They will wear name tags and masks the entire time they serve.  Gloves, face shields and smocks or jackets will be worn as needed.

All children will have their temperature checked and we will ask parents to verify the following:

  • My child does not have a fever (100°F or higher) and has not used medication to reduce fever within the last 24 hours.
  • My child does not have a cough, shortness of breath, or other COVID-19 symptoms.
  • My child has not had pneumonia recently.
  • No one in my household has had contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days.

Classrooms will be set up to allow for space between children, but at times children may be closer than the recommended 6 feet.  We will utilize fun, creative, and developmentally appropriate ways to encourage distancing such as dividers, lap desks, pack ‘n plays, etc.

Class sizes and interaction between classes will be limited as much as possible.

Children will be given individual supplies that will not be shared with others.

All areas, toys, and supplies will be cleaned before and after services.

We will encourage children to wash their hands often and use hand sanitizer as needed.

We will encourage children over 2 to wear masks through fun games and gentle reminders when possible – but wearing a mask is not required. Parents can provide masks and we will have disposable masks available.

To reduce the spread of germs, we will not accept personal items except for essential items for young children such as a diaper, change of clothing, bottle, pacifier, etc.  A Ziplock bag will be provided at check-in for these items.  Diaper bags and infant car seats will not be accepted.

We ask parents to pre-register your children on our new digital check in app when you plan to attend. This will help ensure we are appropriately staffed.

Check-In Process:
We are really excited about our new check-in system, KidCheck!  It will make the check-in process easier, faster, and more secure!

  • Check-In will open 20 minutes before each service.
  • There will be a temperature check station in the Early Childhood Lobby where your child’s temperature will be taken with a no contact thermometer.  Children with a temperature of 100°F or more will not be allowed to enter the Early Childhood Area.
  • Parents will take their child to the temperature check station, then proceed to the Check-In Counter.  At check-in, parents will receive 2 matching security stickers.  You will place one sticker on your child’s back and assist with putting on your child’s mask, if applicable. You will keep the second sticker to present at check-out when you pick up child. Note: You can also use the “guardian receipt” in the KidCheck app to check out you child.
  • Each child will sanitize their hands as they enter the Early Childhood area.  Hand sanitizer will be provided.
  • Doors will be propped open for children who can walk on their own.  Teachers will carry children who are unable to walk.
  • Parents will not be permitted beyond the Check-In Counter.

Pick Up & Check Out Process:

  • Parents will pick up their child at the designated check-out station by presenting their printed security sticker or their digital “guardian receipt” in the KidCheck App.
  • To minimize traffic, we ask that only one parent/guardian pick up your child.
  • We will not give candy at check out.
