At First NLR, we offer many different ways to connect with others!  We have tons of Connections Classes and Connections Groups that you can be a part of!  Try out one or a few and see which one you connect to the best!

Find a class to get connected with on Saturday nights or Sunday mornings!  Or join one of our groups that meets at another time slot during the week.  We have a wide variety of options for you to choose from, ranging from different age groups to different life stages to different interests.

Freedom Connection

Freedom Connection is a class that addresses the issues that interfere in our most important relationships. A wide variety of life issues are represented at Freedom Connection including: dependency on alcohol or drugs, pornography, low self-esteem, need to control, depression, anger, co-dependency, fear of rejection, fear of abandonment, perfectionism, broken relationships, and abuse. Join us as we seek God’s healing power from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors in this Bible-based recovery journey.

First Steps

Are you a new Christian?  Wanting to learn the important steps of developing a deeper relationship with Jesus?  This four-week class meets every Sunday at 10:00am in room 105.  It’s perfect for those who want to learn more about prayer, studying the Bible, and other key elements of the Christian faith.  You can start ANY weekend.  Come join us!

Back to the Basics

A diverse class for adults of all ages. The class begins each week with fellowship, praise reports, and prayer. Teaching themes range from in depth review of biblical passages to works by Christian authors to video series.

Challengers | Senior Adults (55+)

Main Building | Senior Ministry Center – Room 1

A traditional style class serving senior adults. Pick up some coffee in the coffee lobby and join us for a donut and a great time of fellowship and spiritual growth. You will meet some wonderful people in our church. Our study comes from the standard Assemblies of God curriculum – each participant will get a copy to use for your own personal study. We begin with a short time of singing some older hymns and choruses.  We have regular social activities outside of class so members can get to know each other better and join in with fun and fellowship.

Creative Living

Connect with other class members while having fun and learning to live in Christian love.  This class addresses current issues and the teachers rotate with in depth teaching in the Bible and its principle for all ages.

Out of college and launched into your career? This is perfect for you.  In this class you’ll meet people from all walks of life: military, teachers, graduate students, businessmen and others. It’s a great place for young adults who have launched into their careers to meet others and grow in their faith.

NXT: Transitions | Young Adults (College Students)

Transitions are hard. Don’t go through them alone! Especially the transition from High School to the NXT stage of life. This class is designed for the college-aged individual. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for you to meet others and discover what life is and what you can become!

Int he Deaf Connections Class, you will learn, grow closer to Jesus, and build healthy relationships with others.  We meet weekly to worship God, learn about the Bible, and spend time with each other.  All of our meetings are conducted in American Sign Language.

IRONMEN | Men

Looking for a brotherhood?  Want to be around a group of men where you can be honest and transparent about spiritual battles and life issues that affect men?  If so, IRONMEN is for you.  This group is open to all men who want to have real talk, deal with real issues and get real results as it relates to Godly wisdom and support.  Led by Derick Brooks, this men’s group is fun, laid-back and supportive.  Together, we WIN!  “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17

Hope Center

On Wednesday nights, our Connections classes are taught by many of our Spanish-speaking teachers. Lessons cover various subjects helping Christians in their everyday lives. The Bible is the key study book with many other books and subjects shared at various times throughout the year.

Do you want a place to learn, grow, have fun and make friends?  Join our Connections Group for Women – it’s for women of all ages!  We offer a variety of classes and activities including crafts, Bible Study, demonstrations, and practical teaching on relevant topics.  No need to sign up!  Every class is a stand-alone session so feel free to drop in at any time!
